The Liverpool hitman would be a useful addition for Southampton.

New Southampton FC manager Ralph Hasenhüttl during his first press conference at the Staplewood Campus on December 6, 2018 in Southampton, England.

Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhüttl has a lot of work to do at St Mary’s, if he is to keep his side up this season.

The Austrian will obviously have to bring in some top quality players this month, if he is to have any chance whatsoever of doing just that.

One particular area where the Saints boss will surely be looking to strengthen is his attacking department, especially with Manolo Gabbiadini being heavily linked with an exit from the club this month.

With this in mind, Southampton should consider a move for Liverpool hitman Divock Origi.

The Belgian has really struggled for regular first-team action at Anfield this season, and he would surely tempted into a switch to Southampton, if he is guaranteed a regular starting spot.

Liverpool would also surely be open to the idea of sanctioning Origi’s exit, whether it be permanently or on loan, and he might be exactly what the Saints need.

The 23-year-old is incredibly quick along the ground, and he always looks to make penetrating runs in behind the opposition’s defence – something that Southampton have lacked in the final third recently.

The Belgium international is immensely talented, and if given a regular run of first-team games, he would surely begin to show what he is truly capable of.

It might be a little harsh to label Origi as a flop, but he certainly hasn’t pulled up any trees during his time at Anfield.

Southampton’s more direct playing style might be better suited to his skill-set, however, and if Hasenhüttl does in fact mange to bring the striker to St Mary’s, it could turn out to be a signing of real significance for them.
