The Everton hitman could be a useful addition for Southampton.

Ralph Hasenhuttl the head coach

Southampton narrowly avoided relegation down to the Championship this season, and it is clear to see the Ralph Hasenhuttl needs to significantly strengthen his options at St Mary’s this summer.

One particular area where the Austrian will want to improve is his centre-forward department, with a lack of goals proving to be a real problem for them during this season.

And with this in mind, Southampton should consider making a move for Everton hitman Cenk Tosun, despite his struggles at Goodison Park.

The 27-year-old joined the Toffees from Besiktas for around £27 million in January 2018, according to BBC Sport, but he has struggled for regular first-team football at Goodison Park.

Tosun’s problems at Everton should not be taken at face value by Southampton chiefs, however.

Moving to the Premier League from a foreign league is notoriously difficult, and his career record of 154 goals in 370 appearances should not be sniffed at.

The Turkey international is exactly the type of fox-in-the-box striker that the Saints need, and a fresh start at St Mary’s might just be beneficial to him.

Whether Everton would be prepared to give up on Tosun, however, remains to be seen, but Southampton should test the Merseyside outfit’s resolve nevertheless.
