The Arsenal defender could be a useful addition to the Southampton squad.

Saints fans will be hoping that their club bring in some quality signings this summer, as they look like losing arguably their best player, with Virgil van Dijk continuously being linked with the St Mary’s exit door.
If the Dutchman does leave Southampton, they will of course have to focus primarily on recruiting defensive reinforcements, to help fill the void that will be left behind by the 25-year-old.
With this in mind, the south coast outfit should consider entering the race for Gunners defender Calum Chambers, who has been made available by Arsene Wenger for £15 million, according to the Daily Mail.
The Saints sold the 22-year-old to Arsenal for £16 million way back in 2014, but he has failed to establish himself as a first-team regular at the Emirates, and has seemingly been deemed surplus to requirements this summer by Wenger.
And with the opportunity to bring him back to St Mary’s for less than they sold him for, Southampton should not hesitate.
Chambers stands at 6ft tall, and has a fantastic leap, which makes him very strong in the air. He is also very quick along the ground, along with being a fantastic reader of the game. He plays with a certain level of maturity that defies his years, and would undoubtedly add authority to the Saints’ back-line.

The Arsenal man is also wonderfully versatile, and can play in the right-back position along with the deep-lying midfield role – something that could prove to be extremely useful for Southampton during the long, physically punishing Premier League campaign.
Whilst there will surely be plenty of competition for Chambers’ signature, the Gunners star could favour a move to the Saints.
His home town of Petersfield is just 30 miles from St Mary’s, and the opportunity to return home could be one that is hard to resist for Chambers.
