The Wolverhampton Wanderers captain spent more than a year on loan at Sheffield Wednesday.
They say you should never go back, but a return to Sheffield Wednesday for former Hillsborough loanee Danny Batth could be mutually beneficial.
Wednesday are desperate to sign another centre-half this summer, while Batth looks set to be frozen out by new Wolverhampton Wanderers boss Nuno Espirito Santo.
Wolves’ Danny Batth celebrates
Batth excelled during his two spells at Wednesday, becoming a fans’ favourite in the latter of those as the Owls returned to the second tier at the expense of rivals – and another of the 26-year-old’s old clubs – Sheffield United.
But after initially impressing back at boyhood club Wolves – reportedly attracting Premier League interest – the Molineux skipper has lost his way a bit in recent seasons, and perhaps understandably, given all the upheaval.
He is now onto his fourth manager in little over 12 months, and has had Porto’s Willy Boly added to a long list of rivals for his position.
As such, The Express & Star reports that Batth is one of a handful of players at risk of being sold, as Wolves seek to repair the hole in their budget caused by Ruben Neves’ £15 million arrival – also from Porto.

But Wednesday need not be put off by Wolves’ apparent perception – just as they weren’t when Leeds wanted rid of the now-rejuvenated Tom Lees in 2014.
What a partnership that could potentially be.
