Should Sheffield United’s Wilder be top of Everton’s manager wishlist?

As Everton struggle to find a new manager should they take a serious look at Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder?

It is now over three weeks since Everton sacked Ronald Koeman as manager on October 24, but still the search for his replacement goes on.

Sky Sports reports that neither Sam Allardyce or Marco Silva – who was the subject of two separate enquiries to Watford – are in the running for the job anymore.

Burnley boss Sean Dyche has been among the favourites since Koeman was dismissed, but it is understood no contact has been made to the Clarets, while current caretaker David Unsworth remains in consideration despite an indifferent start to his temporary time in charge.

So despite having an international break to try and sort things out, it seems as if the Toffees are likely to go into their Premier League clash with Crystal Palace on Saturday (November 18) no nearer to appointing Koeman’s successor.

With options becoming increasingly limited, perhaps the Merseyside club should take a look at a coach who has been greatly impressing in the Championship this season – Chris Wilder.

In fact the Sheffield United chief has been performing well for some time, winning the League Two title with Northampton in 2016, the League One title with the Blades the following year and is currently second in the English second tier this time around.

Wilder has enjoyed this success at Bramall Lane playing a fluid 3-5-2 formation that relies on technique and quick passing, a style that would suit the Premier League.

Critics would say Everton have ignored Dyche because he is not a fashionable coach and the same could be said of Wilder, but perhaps they are exactly what the club needs right now.
