Clarets boss Sean Dyche faces a busy couple of months ahead of him, as he looks to build a squad capable of improving on last season’s 16th placed Premier League finish.
Burnley will have to be smart in their player recruitment, however, with a limited budget available to Dyche.
One particular area of the Lancashire outfit’s squad that needs addressing is the forward department, with rumours linking Andre Gray with an exit refusing to go away.
Their tally of just 39 goals in the Premier League last term was the fourth lowest in the division, and the acquisition of a proven striker will surely feature highly on Dyche’s agenda this summer.

With this in mind, the Clarets should consider bringing Saints striker Jay Rodriguez back to Turf Moor.
The 27-year-old left Burnley for Southampton in the summer of 2012, for a fee believed to be in the region of £6 million, and has gone on to score 35 goals in 126 outings for the south coast outfit.
And whilst he is not the most prolific of strikers, the manner in which he holds up the ball, combined with his intelligent footballing brain, could prove to be a huge asset to Dyche’s side.

Rodriguez is well capable of leading the line on his own, but if Burnley manage to hold on to Andre Gray, the Saints man could strike up a formidable ‘little and large’ partnership with the Clarets hitman.
He is still under contract for another two years at St Mary’s however, so Dyche would have to submit a fairly substantial offer to tempt Southampton into selling, but if he manages to bring him back to Turf Moor, it could turn out to be a signing of serious significance, with regards to their hopes of surviving another season in the top flight.
