Ronald Koeman is a man under pressure going into Everton’s next Premier League game against Arsenal on Sunday.

It all started so well for Everton with Wayne Rooney scoring the winner against Stoke City on the opening weekend before a draw at Manchester City.

But just one Premier League win since has left Ronald Koeman’s side in 16th place in the Premier League table.

It is a far cry from the hype and optimism which greeted the club’s start to the season.

But it is inevitable that Koeman’s future has been called into question as a result of the Toffees’ struggle to live up to expectations.

Everton have the small matter of a Europa League tussle with Lyon to negotiate before Sunday’s visit of Arsenal to Goodison Park.

The Gunners lost 2-1 to Watford last time out and are not the force they once were.

So is it fair to expect Koeman to face the axe should Everton fail to turn the corner with a win against Arsene Wenger’s side?

Leicester and Crystal Palace have set a precedent this season by acting swiftly to try and breathe new life into their respective clubs.

Whether that will work for either club only time will tell but given Everton’s expenditure and new found ambition Koeman knows he must start winning sooner rather than later or he will join Craig Shakespeare and Frank de Boer in being out of work.
