Celtic were left reeling on Tuesday afternoon, as manager Brendan Rodgers left the club to become the new boss at Leicester City.

The Bhoys were at least expecting Rodgers to stay until the end of the season, especially as he was targeting a third straight league title and even a third straight domestic treble.

However, Rodgers has decided to move on immediately, becoming the replacement for Claude Puel in the King Power Stadium dugout, giving him time to assess his squad ahead of the summer transfer window.

Rodgers will be backed with funds in the summer, and a striker should be on his wish list. Jamie Vardy and Shinji Okazaki are both 32, whilst Kelechi Iheanacho has failed to live up to his billing.

Rodgers may have targets in mind, but there’s one player he has seen a whole bunch of during his time in Scotland – Rangers hitman Alfredo Morelos.

The Colombian hit 18 goals last season as well as 27 this term, taking his tally to 45 goals in 82 games, and at 22, he has the potential to become an absolute star in the Premier League.

His hotheaded streak is comparable to Luis Suarez, who Rodgers utilised perfectly at Liverpool, and having seen so much of Morelos in action over the last 18 months, it would be little surprise to see him launch a big move this summer.

Rodgers will have known there was no way of getting Morelos to Celtic, but at Leicester, he may just have a chance to work with Rangers’ outstanding striker, who may well be looking for a big move this summer.

In fact, a host of Rangers fans have taken to Twitter to predict that Rodgers will be looking to make Morelos his first signing at Leicester having watched him dominate Scottish football, with some fearing that Rodgers’ move could come back to haunt Rangers.
