Glasgow Rangers are reportedly hoping to bring Jake Cooper to Ibrox, but are struggling to get a deal done.

The Scottish Sun’s report from earlier this week suggested that the Gers’ most recent bid was worth £3 million, and it is not entirely clear what Rangers will need to put on the table if they hope to bring Cooper to Ibrox.
If Millwall continue to dig their heels in, Rangers should perhaps switch their attention and rival West Brom for the signature of Huddersfield Town ace Michael Hefele, who is reportedly available for less than the value of the Light Blues’ most recent Cooper bid.

While the 27-year-old is available this summer, he is something of a cult-hero with Huddersfield, and given his style of play, he could probably earn similar status at Rangers if he came in to challenge Connor Goldson and Nikola Katic.
Hefele is not afraid to get stuck in and inspire those around him with his aggression, but he is also more than comfortable with the ball at his feet and David Wagner has been known to occasionally send him up front when his side have required a goal.
Cooper may be a better long-term prospect, but if Rangers are resigned to the fact that Millwall are not willing to sell, then meeting Hefele’s asking price could be a superb way for Gerrard to strengthen his options at the back.
