Glasgow Rangers were linked with a move for John McGinn recently, and perhaps now need to bring him to Ibrox more than ever.

While Rangers appear to be well stocked when it comes to central midfielders right now, Steven Gerrard would perhaps be forgiven for wanting to add more quality in the middle of the park ahead of his first season with the Gers.
There are some very good players in that area of the pitch, but the likes of Ryan Jack, Graham Dorrans and Jordan Rossiter have all experienced long injury lay-offs since joining the Light Blues. And given the latest reports concerning the latter of the trio, perhaps it may be time to consider stepping up their interest in one of their reported targets.

Rossiter missed out on Rangers’ friendly with TNS due to an ankle injury, and now the Daily Record is reporting that he is a doubt for their upcoming Europa League qualifiers. It is a major setback for an extremely talented player, and anyone associated with the club will be desperately hoping that it does not lead to another long-term absence for the former Liverpool ace.
Nevertheless, Gerrard would be forgiven for being concerned about how reliable Rossiter will prove to be, and with Dorrans also recently sustaining a knock and Jack yet to make a competitive appearance in 2018 – though he appears to have come through pre-season unscathed – it is perhaps worth looking at strengthening the options further, and that should prompt Gerrard to step up the club’s reported interest in John McGinn.
The Daily Record reported in May that Rangers were keen on McGinn, who Neil Lennon values at around £5 million. With McGinn arguably one of the most impressive performers in the Scottish Premiership over the last year, it is perhaps time for Rangers to do all they can to get the Hibs ace to Ibrox this summer.

Rossiter may only be out for a very brief period, but relying on him heading into the new campaign is a gamble at this stage, and Dorrans has to arguably be put in the same boat right now.
With that in mind, now is perhaps the right time for Rangers to do all they can to land McGinn’s signature to give the side additional quality in the middle of the park, but to perhaps also boost the hopes of stability.
