There is no shortage of clubs attempting to lure Leicester City starlet Josh Eppiah but will Rangers join the race?

Rangers manager Graeme Murty is seen during the Scottish Cup Quarter final match between Rangers and Hamilton Academical at Ibrox Stadium on March 4, 2017 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Josh Eppiah appears to be on the verge of a breakthrough at Leicester City. The 19-year-old is one of the most exciting young players in the clubs’ ranks and, though he is yet to make a first-team debut, a senior bow seems inevitable after a series of stand-out displays for the Under-23s.

But according to ESPN, Leicester face a challenge holding onto Eppiah. Leeds United, Wolves and Everton, whose first-team coach Craig Shakespeare thinks highly of the striker, are all attempting to lure the teenager away from the King Power Stadium. West Ham, Bournemouth, Stoke City and German giants Red Bull Leipzig are also checking on his progress.

But a year-and-a-half after they signed another highly-rated Leicester City forward, will Rangers return to the Midlands for the latest fresh-faced striker to emerge out of The Foxes youth team?

Joseph Dodoo of Leicester City celebrates his hat trick during the Capital One Cup second round match between Bury and Leicester City at Gigg Lane on August 25, 2015 in Bury, England.

Rangers landed Joe Dodoo on a bargain deal after his contract at Leicester expired in the summer of 2016.

And while the 22-year-old is yet to prove his potential at Ibrox, spending the current campaign on loan at Charlton Athletic, Eppiah could perhaps be considered as an even more exciting talent with greater potential than a player who marked his senior Foxes bow with a hat-trick in 2015.

Joe Dodoo of Rangers reacts during the William Hill Scottish Cup semi-final match between Celtic and Rangers at Hampden Park on April 23, 2017 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Though if Rangers do join the race, they may be able to offer Eppiah a clearer route into first-team football due to a relative lack of quality striking additions available at Ibrox – not to mention caretaker manager Graeme Murty’s trust in youth.

But could Eppiah succeed where Dodoo flattered to deceive at Ibrox?
