Glasgow Rangers have two impressive left-backs in their ranks but one could feature further forward.

While Rangers left-back Lee Wallace has missed the club’s last three matches with a groin injury, the presence of Declan John has eased that blow considerably.

In fact, the latter’s impact against Hamilton Academical went far beyond what Gers boss Pedro Caixinha would have expected, with the loanee scoring twice in a 4-1 victory.

Such was John’s impact down the left side that one wonders if both he and Wallace could be accommodated in Rangers’ starting line-up when the latter returns from injury.

After all, Rangers cannot be overly reliant on Alfredo Morelos for goals and John has proved that he is capable of finding the net in Scottish football, so what chance the 22-year-old replacing Josh Windass on the left side of the Ger’s midfield or perhaps pushing even further forward and playing in a front three with the Colombian and Daniel Candeias?

Ranger skipper Wallace will expect to get his starting place back when he returns after the international break, and while Caixinha will have the final say, it is hard to imagine him being left out.

That may not mean a return to the bench for John, and if Rangers can find a way to get the best out of him from a goal-scoring perspective he could reinvent himself in Scottish football.
