Glasgow Rangers should keep an eye on Chris Cadden’s future and consider trying to bring the winger to Ibrox.
Rangers may have made a number of statement signings during Steven Gerrard’s first summer in charge of the Gers, but there is no question some of their most inspired deals have come from those that they have landed on free transfers.
The likes of Allan McGregor, Jon Flanagan and Scott Arfield are already key players for the Light Blues, and that should inspire Gerrard to keep a close eye on contracts that will have run down by the end of the season.
One Scottish Premiership star that Gerrard should arguably have on his radar, particularly for that reason, is Motherwell’s Chris Cadden. The Scottish Sun reports that he is one of the Well players who could potentially leave on a free next summer.
The 22-year-old is an extremely talented player and could potentially tick a lot of boxes for Gerrard as he continues to try and build a squad that can handle the demands of competing in four competitions, including the Scottish Premiership and in Europe.
Cadden already has five assists this term, including one in the dramatic 3-3 draw with Rangers in August. And although he is predominantly a right-sided midfielder, he is more than capable of playing anywhere in the middle of the park, while he can also fill in at full-back or even up front if required.
The Scotland international may not be the finished article just yet, but it could be a fantastic piece of business to land him on a free transfer when he can make Rangers stronger out wide and add depth in several other positions.
And if he can continue to impress over the coming months, then he should undoubtedly be one player that Gerrard looks at including on his shopping list for next summer.
