Vurnon Anita may have failed to make a huge impact at Leeds United this past season, but the former Newcastle United versatile star would be a smart signing for Steven Gerrard’s Rangers in the summer transfer window.

The 29-year-old is a versatile footballer who can operate as a full-back or as a defensive midfielder; the 2017 Leeds signing can also be deployed in attacking midfield.

Good in possession of the ball and blessed with the ability to pick teammates with brilliant passes, Anita would be a valuable addition to the Rangers team.

The Ibrox side would get a versatile and hard-working player in Anita, who would bring with him a wealth of experience, having played in the Eredivisie in the Netherlands, and in the Premier League and in the Championship in Scotland.

Anita made just 14 starts in the Championship for Leeds this past season, and Rangers could convince him to move to Ibrox by offering him the chance of regular first-team football and the opportunity to play in front of 50,000 fans. Then there’s the Old Firm rivalry with Celtic.

Anita won on the Dutch league title twice with Ajax and the Championship with Newcastle in 2016-17, and the 29-year-old Dutchman would bring with him a winning mentality to Rangers.
