The Derby County hitman would be an excellent addition to the Glasgow Rangers squad this summer.
Gers boss Pedro Caixinha has had a tough start to life at Ibrox, following his side’s bitterly disappointing exit from he Europa League at the preliminary knock-out stages.
Despite the Portuguese being already highly active in the transfer market, it will be of paramount importance for him to add further quality to his squad ahead of the new season, if his Rangers side are to challenge Celtic and Aberdeen for the top two spots in the Scottish Premiership.
One particular area that Caixinha needs to address is his attacking options, with their distinct lack of potency in forward positions surely a concern for the 46-year-old.
Derby’s Darren Bent in action
With this in mind, the Glasgow giants should consider a move for Rams forward Darren Bent, who has just 12 months remaining on his current deal in the east Midlands.
The 33-year-old has scored 214 career league goals, and has proven his pedigree as a top class goalscorer over the past 15 years.
He is an accomplished finisher when presented with a goalscoring opportunity, and would undoubtedly offer Rangers a more potent threat through the middle this season.
The former Tottenham Hotspur striker started just 22 league games for Derby last term, and the guarantee of regular first-team football at Ibrox, whilst playing in front of 50,000 fans every other week, could be enough to tempt the former England international into swapping the Championship for the Scottish Premiership.
Bent has just 12 months remaining on his current deal with the Rams, so he shouldn’t prove to be too costly, should the Gers decide on making a concrete move for him.
And if Caixinha does manage to bring him to Ibrox this summer, it could turn out to be a signing of real significance for Rangers.
