Glasgow Rangers summer signing Daniel Candeias has made a bright start to life at Ibrox.

While Pedro Caixinha’s Rangers tenure will not be remembered particularly fondly by the Ibrox faithful, there are a few decisions that the Portuguese made during his brief time in charge that deserve praise – one being the signing of Daniel Candeias during the summer.
Candeias has been an excellent addition to the side. There has arguably been plenty of pressure on the 29-year-old given the Gers’ lack of wide options, but he has not allowed himself to become complacent and has generally thrived.

Candeias has scored twice in the Scottish Premiership and contributed four assists – leaving him only behind James Tavernier in the Rangers squad in the assist department.
Given how quickly he has adapted to life at Ibrox, it would perhaps make sense for the Gers to consider whether they should think about beginning talks over a new contract, despite the fact that he only joined the club five months ago.

Given his age, there may be argument that there is no need to rush into a decision. But the early signs suggest that Candeias could be a key player for the Light Blues for a number of years to come, and thus, rewarding him with a contract extension – even if that is just by a further year – may not be a bad idea at all.
