Newcastle United have been struggling to sign a new striker, but perhaps they already have someone ready and raring to go.

Newcastle United boss Rafael Benitez evidently does not have a lot of money to spend this summer, something Magpies fans are finding quite frustrating.

One position the club have been trying to add reinforcements to is in the forward areas, specifically a central striker. Chronicle Live reported last month that Daniel Sturridge was offered to the club, and there were talks with Alassane Plea before he moved to Borussia Monchengladbach according to Sky Sports.

Following the return of Islam Slimani to Leicester City after his loan, Newcastle are looking a bit light up top, with Joselu and Dwight Gayle the only out-and-out striking options. Aleksandar Mitrovic could still join Fulham.

Newcastle fans are clamouring to see a new big name to bang in the goals, but perhaps Ayoze Perez could be the man for the job after a renaissance in the second half of last season.

The Spaniard finished as the club’s top goal-scorer with eight strikes to his name, and hit some big goals over the final couple of months to help guide the Toon Army to safety.

Perez failed to convince during his early years at Newcastle following his move from Tenerife in 2014, but he now looks to be showing signs of real promise.

On Tuesday he managed to rescue a draw against Hull City in a pre-season friendly match by showing some good predatory instincts late on, and perhaps he could be the man to turn to for Benitez if he fails to bring in a new striker; a notion that is getting more realistic by the day.
