Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers should request a Cardiff City in return for Barrie McKay.

According to The Glasgow Evening Times, Cardiff City are also interested in signing uwanted Rangers winger Barrie McKay.

The 22-year-old looks set to leave Ibrox this summer after being made to train with Rangers’ reserves and being omitted from Pedro Caixinha’s Europa League squad this season.

But there’s a man who Caixinha should request in return for the Scotland international – Matty Kennedy.

Kennedy, also 22 and also a winger, needs first-team football but it remains to be seen if he’ll get it in South Wales, having being loaned out to Plymouth by Neil Warnock last season.

The Irvine-born schemer netted five goals in 17 starts for the English club and Caixinha should explore the opportunity of bringing him to Glasgow in exchange for McKay.

Best of all, Kennedy is a lifelong Rangers fan and also snubbed a move to the Ibrox club and Celtic in favour of joining Kilmarnock in 2011, before spending three years on Everton’s books.

There seems to be talent there and perhaps a switch to his boyhood club could bring the best out of him this season.

If McKay winds up in Wales, the Rangers boss should enquire about making Kennedy a part of the deal.
