There was no love lost between the Manchester United and Liverpool man after their racism row. Here’s how another pair handled it…
Over in Turkey, two players with Premier League experience have been embroiled in a racism storm of their own.
Step forward ex-Newcastle United midfielder Emre Belozoglu, and former Tottenham man Didier Zokora.
The pair now play for Turkish rivals Fenerbahce (Emre) and Trabzonspor (Zokora) and they clashed, literally, at the weekend.
Earlier in the season Emre had stood accused of racially abusing Zokora, a charge he denied.
He did though admit to using insulting language, and was handed a two game ban.
When the teams clashed this weekend, it made Luis Suarez and Patrice Evra’s reunification seem like a meeting between old pals.
Zokora refused to shake the hand of Emre before the game, a twist on the Suarez row, with the Liverpool man refusing to shake the hand of his accuser in February.
Then in the game, the Ivorian got some retribution he will enjoy watching over and over again.
Zokora went studs up with a brutal kick to Emre right where it hurts, leaving the Turk writhing around in agony.
Amazingly he was only shown a yellow card. You can watch it here
Just imagine the outcry if Evra had committed such a foul on Suarez.- May be he will decide to next time…
