Newcastle tell Tim Krul he can leave the club so should Crystal Palace consider him to solve their goalkeeper issues?

Tim Krul is one of three Newcastle United players that have been told that they have no future at the club and should look to leave as soon as possible, reports the Chronicle.

Achraf Lazaar and Henri Saivet are the other two, as manager Rafa Benitez looks to trim down his squad, and the trio’s representatives are already looking at alternatives for their clients.

Yet should Crystal Palace consider giving Krul the opportunity to stay in the Premier League – especially as recent reports claim they are on the hunt for a new goalkeeper?

Barcelona backup stopper Jasper Cillessen recently ruled out a move to Selhurst Park, telling ESPN he was “very happy” at the Camp Nou and leaving new Eagles manager Frank de Boer having to think about alternatives between the sticks.

Currently De Boer has Wayne Hennessey and veteran Julian Speroni as ‘keeper options following the departure of Steve Mandanda and perhaps his fellow countryman could be the ideal candidate to bolster his squad.

After all, Krul does have plenty of Premier League experience having played 157 times in the English top flight for Newcastle during ten years in the first team.

At 29-years-old the Netherlands international still has plenty of game time ahead of him as well and although he struggled on loan last season with De Boer’s former club Ajax and also AZ Alkmaar, that is one minor blip in what has been a relatively positive career to date.
