Olivier Giroud has given Arsene Wenger something to think about after finding some form.

The French striker has scored four goals in his last four games for the Gunners, his most recent being a late equaliser against Southampton.

Giroud has featured 13 times in the Premier League but every single appearance has come from the substitutes bench.

He’s scored four league goals (seven in all competitions) so far this season, the same amount of league goals as Alexis Sanchez with Alexandre Lacazette being the only player at the club who has netted more times than Giroud this term. His goals to minutes ratio is equally impressive with a goal every 63 minutes from the 31-year-old.

As well as good recent form, Giroud has scored an impressive six goals in eight games against tonight’s opponents West Ham United so it could be the ideal game for the former Montpellier man to make his first start of the season.

Arsenal have failed to win their last two league games, suffering defeat to Manchester United and drawing 1-1 at St Mary’s against Southampton.

With the busy Christmas period on the horizon, Wenger should be looking to freshen up his team and Giroud’s displays in the Europa League and his cameos in the Premier League would normally earn you a start anywhere else.

The only question is who comes out of the team? Alexis Sanchez has been poor over the last couple of games but it would be brave to drop him given the importance of the match. Arsenal fans have grown frustrated that £52m signing Alexandre Lacazette isn’t starting or finishing matches consistently so something’s got to give if Giroud is to start but in his current form, it’s surely a no brainer.
