Cardiff City’s Lee Tomlin had a loan spell at Nottingham Forest last season.
Lee Tomlin spent the second half of last season on loan at Nottingham Forest, and there was speculation that manager Aitor Karanka wanted the Cardiff City player back at the City Ground for the 2018-19 campaign.
The 29-year-old, who can operate as a striker or as an attacking midfielder, scored four goals and provided three assists in 12 Championship starts for Forest during the second half of the 2017-18 campaign.
Previous interest
Back in June, The Nottingham Post claimed that Forest were keen on signing Tomlin back to the City Ground for the 2018-19 campaign.
The former Bristol City attacker was also reported to be keen on returning the Reds.
There has been no progress on the situation since then, with Forest having signed Joao Carvalho, Hillal Soudani and Lewis Grabban among others over the past few weeks.
New speculation
However, with The Sun now claiming that Tomlin is among the players Cardiff are willing to let go this summer, perhaps Forest should take a look again.
Forest manager Aitor Karanka recently suggested to The Nottingham Post that his priority between now and the end of the summer transfer window is to recruit a right-back and a defensive midfielder, but the former Middlesbrough boss should still look at Tomlin as well.
Move wise
The 29-year-old did well during his spell at the City Ground last season, and if Forest are able to sign him on a cut-price deal from Cardiff, then they should sign him – as it is only going to enhance their chances of finishing in the top six of the Championship.
