Nottingham Forest should consider Sam Winnall after his productive loan spell with Derby County.

Nottingham Forest should consider bringing in Sheffield Wednesday’s Sam Winnall, after he confirmed his exit from Derby County on Twitter earlier today.

Winnall has suggested that he is looking forward to a fresh start at Wednesday, but Forest would be wise to see if the striker is available.

Aitor Karanka’s side are looking to improve their attacking options for next campaign, and Winnall could be a good option.

Granted, Forest would almost certainly have to sign a goalscorer too, but Winnall’s energy and desire made him a real fans’ favourite during his time with Derby.

The 27-year-old netted seven goals in 19 Championship matches for Derby last term, and his tireless pressing could be key for Forest.

The concern for the Reds is obviously Winnall’s current injury problem, but they still should consider exploring a deal, if he will be back somewhere in the near future.

Karanka has already brought in a lot of flair players, and Winnall could help take some of the defensive responsibility off them and allow them to thrive.

There is no guarantees that Wednesday would be open to selling Winnall, after his impressive loan spell.

But Forest would be wise to make an enquiry, as he could be a good addition to Karanka’s squad for next term.
