Sheffield Wednesday have made former Nottingham Forest midfielder Lewis McGugan available for transfer this summer.

According to a report in the Sheffield Telegraph, Sheffield Wednesday are set to offload midfielder Lewis McGugan this summer.

McGugan fell completely out of favour at Wednesday this season, and did not make a single appearance.

And with Carlos Carvalhal staying on at Hillsborough, it seems that the midfielder has no future at Wednesday any more.

McGugan is now free to look for a new club in the summer, and it could be that a return to Nottingham Forest interests all parties.

Forest are on the look for more talent to upgrade their squad, after what was a disappointing season.

Mark Warburton’s side narrowly avoided relegation this time around, and they will be under pressure to make a big improvement next year.

McGugan’s arrival would certainly provide them with an injection of quality in the centre of the pitch, and his return could excite the City Ground crowd.

McGugan was a popular figure at Forest, and he enjoyed the most successful time of his career at the Midlands club.

The 28-year-old scored 43 goals and claimed 27 assists in 224 appearances for the Reds.

And the circumstances now appear to be perfect for him to make a return to the City Ground.
