Nottingham Forest substitute Nicklas Bendtner
With Nottingham Forest just two points above the relegation zone following their 1-0 loss to Wolverhampton Wanderers in midweek, the last thing they needed to see was an ex-player who has been playing well.
However, that’s exactly what’s happened, as former Red Nicklas Bendtner has now scored the same amount of goals in two games for his new club Rosenborg than he did in 17 for Forest.
It begs the question whether Forest should have maybe held onto the former Arsenal man, as he was sold before new boss Mark Warburton even got through the door at The City Ground.
Bendtner’s biggest issue at Forest wasn’t his attitude or his work rate – though he was often accused of being lazy – but the way he was played, as the Reds were so structurally poor that Bendtner would be expected to work miracles from the halfway line as that’s when he saw the ball most.

The Reds rarely utilised his height by crossing balls into areas where he could be a dangerous asset, and Forest’s service to the strikers – which has been woeful all season – was so bad, that Bendtner veered out wide more often than not to try and get involved.
Unsurprisingly, the end result was a disillusioned player, and a move was perhaps best for all parties concerned – but had Forest played Bendtner correctly however, and he may well have been a success, and going by his start at Rosenborg, he would have been.
