Are Leeds clearing the decks for a Sam Byram return?
Byram quit Leeds in early 2016 to join the Hammers but has failed to establish himself as a regular.
The defender was highly regarded at Leeds before his exit and normally, the Whites would have jumped at the chance to bring him back.
And perhaps they still will.
One of the big reasons it seemed needless for Leeds to do so earlier this week was the strength in depth at Elland Road.
They have now weakened this, by sending Lewie Coyle on loan to Fleetwood Town earlier today, in a deal which runs until January.
Coyle could have had a role at Leeds this season, and with Luke Ayling likely to feature as a defender in Marcelo Bielsa’s back three, there could be a spot available further forward.
Byram would be ideally suited, and Leeds actually have a lack of quality for the right of midfield in the wing-back role.
Freeing Coyle up to move to Fleetwood could be Leeds clearing the decks for a Byram return.
