Matt Ritchie could be set to leave Newcastle United this summer, with the Telegraph reporting both Middlesbrough and Stoke City have held discussions over a potential £15m transfer.

So therefore could the Toon potentially use the Scot as a makeweight as they continue to pursue a deal to bring Andros Townsend back to St James’ Park from Crystal Palace – as reported by the Chronicle.

Apparently the Eagles now want a whopping £30m for Townsend and would need to replace the wide man, but with Ritchie acting as the instant solution for Roy Hodgson perhaps he would be more open to a deal with the Tyneside club?

Crystal Palace have not been rumoured to be interested in Ritchie’s services, but the Scotland international proved last season that he is more than capable of competing in the Premier League, and could be a good option for Hodgson with his infectious work-rate and excellent delivery from set pieces.
