Newcastle United were said to be very interested in Sporting Lisbon’s Bas Dost last summer.

According to a report on page six of yesterday’s (8th April) printed edition of Record, Bas Dost is keen on making a move to the Premier League.

Dost has been linked with a move to England for a number of seasons now, but is yet to complete a move to a Premier League side.

However, after spells in Holland, Germany and Portugal in recent years, it seems Dost could be heading to England this summer.

And Newcastle United could now be tempted to revive their interest in the forward.

Newcastle have been linked with the Sporting Lisbon man for a number years, and his scoring record has not slowed down.

It was reported back in 2017 by the Daily Star, that Newcastle made a club-record bid for Dost of £35 million, but they failed to get a deal over line.

If Newcastle have continued to keep tabs on the forward, they are sure to have been impressed, as he has carried on hitting the back of the net regularly.

Dost has hit 31 goals in 42 appearances across all competitions this season, making him one of the top scoring strikers across Europe.

And with Newcastle looking for a new forward, now could be the perfect time for them to make a move for Dost and force through a transfer they have been chasing for years.
