The Magpies still need to find a striker who can score prolifically at Premier League level, as their current options have failed to really make an impact in the top tier.
Newcastle will surely have a new front man right at the top of their wishlist in the summer, and Perez may be an upgrade on their current options.
Perez has actually had a difficult season in terms of goals while out on loan at Deportivo, but he has regularly been played out wide rather than through the middle.
And if Newcastle deemed Perez worthy of attention last summer, there is an argument to suggest that they should go back in for him again at the end of the season.
