Everton striker Arouna Kone is said to want a move to a Premier League side – so should Newcastle United move.

With Everton set to allow Arouna Kone to leave on a free transfer this summer (Liverpool Echo), Newcastle United could benefit from renewing their interest in the striker.
Newcastle were linked with Kone four years ago (BBC Sport), when he was at Wigan Athletic, but failed to get a deal over the line.
Kone, instead, opted to move to Everton – and his time at Goodison Park has been of mixed success.

The 33-year-old’s progress with the Toffees has been halted due to injury, but his goalscoring record is reasonably credible.
In his last two seasons, Kone has netted nine goals in 38 appearances for Everton.
And, with Newcastle looking to compete back at Premier League level again, Kone could be a valuable short-term addition.

Although Kone may not be the most glamorous of signings, his top flight experience could be crucial.
Benitez has already proven that he has no qualms with bringing in veterans, if they could help the team.
And, as a back-up option, Kone could be a good addition for Newcastle – especially on a free transfer.
