Crystal Palace midfielder Yohan Cabaye has once again been linked with a move away from Selhurst Park; but could Newcastle United attempt to re-sign him?

Arguably one of the best midfielders to play in black and white over the last six years, former Newcastle United playmaker Yohan Cabaye was a popular figure at St James’ Park. Scoring 17 goals in 79 appearances for Newcastle from 2011 to 2014, the Frenchman eventually departed for French giants Paris Saint-Germain; a move not many could begrudge him for.
But things didn’t work out for Cabaye in France, and after 39 appearances and one goal for the Parisian side, Cabaye moved back to England, to link up with former Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew at Crystal Palace.
Scoring 7 goals in 55 appearances for the Ealges, Yohan Cabaye has enjoyed a good spell at Crystal Palace, all things considered. However, after the departure of Pardew, Cabaye’s form has severely dipped, and the midfielder is now being linked with a possible move away by French media outlet, Buzz Sport.

With the Frenchman potentially heading out the exit door in the summer, could Newcastle United potentially move for their former midfielder? Newcastle United fans weren’t impressed to see their former man in a Palace shirt, but with Newcastle looking set for a return to the Premier League, could Rafa Benitez entice the reported Marseille target with a move back to St James’ Park?

And would Newcastle United fans even want the Frenchman back? With Jonjo Shelvey and Isaac Hayden impressing massively this season, perhaps there’s simply no room for Cabaye in Benitez’s side?
