It hasn’t been the start to the summer that Newcastle United supporters would have wanted, but along with potentially securing the services of Rafa Benitez, signing a player like Bradley Dack would do the club the world of good.

The Daily Mail have claimed that Blackburn Rovers forward Dack is keen to leave the club this summer, with newly-promoted Aston Villa and Sheffield United interested on his signature.

A player like Dack would lift the spirits at St James’ Park and he is the type of signing the Toon Army faithful have been craving for some time now.

During the recently concluded campaign, versatile attacker Dack scored 18 goals and supplied 10 assists for Rovers in all competitions as they finished outside of the top 10 in the second tier [transfermarkt].

Whether it is this summer, or the following season, Dack’s qualities on the ball will one day see him plying his trade in England’s top-flight and whoever he represents, he will entertain. That club should be Newcastle.

With pre-season around the corner, Newcastle are yet to bring in any new fresh faces and Benitez is yet to put pen-to-paper on a new deal.

A player like Dack would convince the Spainaird to stay because it would show that Mike Ashley is being ambitious in the transfer market and backing his man in the dugout.

Dack has great qualities on the ball and is the type of player to lift you off your seat with a sublime piece of skill. He has a great ability to carry and keep the ball in tight areas, as well as find the back of the net.

Plus, he has an aggression to his game that fans of his club would love, but with newly-promoted duo Villa and Sheffield United keen on him, there’s no reason why Newcastle shouldn’t join the race.
