Aston Villa midfielder Jack Grealish increased his popularity at Newcastle United by scoring last weekend.

Jack Grealish wrote himself into Newcastle United folklore at the weekend, when he netted the Aston Villa equaliser against Brighton & Hove Albion, which won Rafael Benitez’s side the Championship title.

At one stage, it seemed a mere formality that Brighton would win the second tier.

But, in the last minute of the season, Grealish turned out to be Newcastle’s hero – as he curled in a strike, which denied Chris Hughton’s side the chance to win the title.

Grealish’s popularity at St. James’ Park has significantly increased, due to his goalscoring exploits, and Newcastle may find that now is the ideal time to make a move for the creative midfielder.

Grealish has endured a difficult season at Villa, where he has perhaps not made the impact in the Championship that many expected.

However, the 21-year-old’s talent remains undoubted, and a move to Newcastle could help him fulfil his potential.

Grealish has shown flashes of brilliance this term, and if he could produce those performances on a consistent basis he would be a major threat at any level.

And, as a wildcard signing for their Premier League season, Grealish’s arrival at Newcastle could be a gamble which pays off massively for Benitez’s side.
