Newcastle United have surprisingly been linked with a move for Sunderland full-back Bryan Oviedo.

Newcastle United fans may have been surprised when they saw a recent report linking them with a move for Sunderland’s Bryan Oviedo. And as the move may not be particularly well received, perhaps the Magpies should instead target Celtic defender Emilio Izaguirre.
According to Diez – coincidentally, an outlet based in Izaguirre’s home country of Honduras – the Costa Rica international, who only joined the Black Cats in January, is on Rafa Benitez’s radar as he looks to build a squad capable of thriving in the Premier League.
But with Oviedo coming from their bitter rivals and currently on a contract until 2020 (via BBC Sport), a move for the Hoops man may actually be a wiser deal.
Izaguirre is out of contract this summer, and is set to leave Parkhead having fallen behind Kieran Tierney in the pecking order (via Daily Record).

The 30-year-old will undoubtedly be a big loss to the Bhoys however, having previously been a key man for the side, and therefore, Newcastle should be the ones to capitalise on his departure.
Izaguirre has arguably shown during his time with Celtic that he is good enough to play in the Premier League, and on a free transfer, he would arguably be a tremendous addition to the Magpies’ squad, and perhaps a much better signing than Oviedo would be given the length of time still to run on his contract.
