Should that prove to be the case, the Magpies would surely be wise to consider an ambitious move for the 25-goal forward who only finished behind Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Robert Lewandowski in the Bundesliga goalscoring charts this past season.

Anthony Modeste has been sensational for Cologne this past campaign, bagging his goals in just 32 top flight games to follow a season where he scored 15 times in 34 games.
That record has helped his side register two successive top-half finishes in Germany, with the team finishing in an incredibly impressive fifth place this year.
And that record should also tempt Newcastle into making a move this summer, as he would undoubtedly be an excellent addition to the side’s attacking ranks as they prepare for their first season back in the Premier League.

The 29-year-old may relish the chance to come back to England as his only spell in the country came five years ago when he endured a difficult time on loan with Blackburn Rovers.
And if Newcastle did decide to take a chance on him and he subsequently managed to replicate the form he has shown in Germany over the past two seasons in the Premier League, then Rafa Benitez’s side would surely have absolutely no problem quickly establishing themselves back at the top table.
