The Tottenham Hotspur hitman could be a useful addition to the Newcastle United squad this summer.
Newcastle United manager Rafa Benitez
Magpies boss Rafa Benitez will be looking to bolster his attacking options this summer, ahead of what will surely be a challenging Premier League campaign next term, and the addition of a tall, powerful striker to help compliment Dwight Gayle will surely feature highly on his agenda.
With this in mind, the Spaniard should consider offering Spurs striker Vincent Janssen an escape route out of north London, after the Dutchman endured a miserable season for Mauricio Pochettino’s side.
It must be noted, however, that he was never really given an opportunity of an extended run of games in the Premier League, from where he could have showcased his true potential.
The 22-year-old was more often than not utilised as a late substitute, thus not being given the chance to influence games in the positive manner that he would have liked.
Tottenham’s Vincent Janssen
The former AZ Alkmaar man moved to White Hart Lane last summer, for a fee believed to be in the region of £17 million, and despite showing the odd glimmer of what he is truly capable of, it seems as though Pochettino has lost faith in the Dutchman.
Janssen still has plenty of quality though, and a change of scenery might just be all that he needs to help breathe life back into his stuttering career.
He could play as part of a two-pronged attack for the Toon, alongside Dwight Gayle, and there is every chance that the pair would be ideally suited to each other.
The Holland international is exceptional at holding the ball up, and bringing others into play, which would compliment Gayle’s style perfectly.
Tottenham’s Vincent Janssen
Janssen’s record in Holland two seasons ago of 27 goals in 34 league outings goes shows that he is clinical when presented with goalscoring opportunities, and if he could just gain a little bit more confidence, he could turn out to be a top striker.
He is still under contract with the Lilywhites until the summer of 2020, however, so Pochettino will surely be looking to recoup at least the £17 million he paid for his services last summer, should he decide to sanction his exit.
And with Newcastle now in an extremely strong financial position following their promotion to the top flight, that kind of fee should pose no problem whatsoever.
