Newcastle United could arguably do with strengthening their defensive options, so perhaps they should look to rival Everton for one of their targets.

With Newcastle currently enduring a fairly miserable run of form, Rafa Benitez will be under no illusions regarding how important the January transfer window will be as the Magpies look to preserve their Premier League status.
One of the areas that Newcastle should look to strengthen is at full-back, with arguably none of their current options really proving much of a point to Benitez – so perhaps the Magpies should look to rival Everton for one of their targets.

Rahman has not exactly hit the heights since arriving at Stamford Bridge, but he showed during his time in the Bundesliga before joining the Blues that he is most definitely a talented defender who should only get better with experience.
The Mail suggests that the 23-year-old may well be loaned out in January, and that should certainly tempt Benitez to join the host of European sides in the queue for his signature.

His arrival at St James’ Park would not deplete the transfer budget that much at all as the move would be temporary – and with Rahman surely needing to prove a point to his parent club if he is does move away, Newcastle could benefit from signing a youngster needing to make the most of any opportunity that comes his way.
Benitez will undoubtedly need to be clever in January if he wants to guide Newcastle away from their precarious position in the top flight, and targeting a loan deal for Rahman may be an incredibly shrewd piece of business from the Magpies.
