According to a report from the Sun, Liverpool are lining up a summer swoop for Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Grzegorz Krychowiak, and Newcastle should consider challenging them for his signature.

The Magpies are crying out for a deep-lying midfield ball-winner, ad the Poland international would be the ideal addition to Rafa Benitez’s squad.

The 28-year-old spent last season on loan in the Premier League with West Bromwich Albion, so he has the experience of playing in England already.

The Poland international is extensively experienced in playing at the very highest level, having spent time with Sevilla and PSG.

He has two Europa League winner’s medals to his name, as well as 54 international caps for his country.

Krychowiak was signed for £24 million by Unai Emery in the summer of 2016, but is now valued at £16.2 million, according to Transfer Market, and if Newcastle manage to sign him for that amount, it could turn out to be a real coup for the club.
