Vydra is reportedly set to leave Derby this summer despite topping the goalscoring charts.

The Telegraph have claimed Championship side Derby County are set to sell top scorer Matej Vydra and Newcastle United should chance their arm on the Czech striker.
It is believed that Derby will have to sell the 26-year-old this summer in order to slash their budgets, after they failed to gain promotion from the Chamionship play-offs – losing 2-1 to Fulham on aggregate.
Derby owner Mel Morris wants to reduce the club’s £35m wage bill ahead of next season, with the club set for another season in the Championship – their last campaign in the Premier League being 2007-08.

Vydra is set to be offloaded, with the club looking for £8million for the 20-time international. He is not the only Derby player who could be sold, with Chris Martin, Scott Carson, Ikechi Anya and Richard Keogh also on the list.
Newcastle desperately need more fire power after Islam Slimani failed to prove effective at St. James’ Park, while Joselu has been a waste of money from the start of the season.
Only Dwight Gayle can hold his head high, while Ayoze Perez shines from the number 10 role as the club’s top scorer. Newcastle need a new striker, but with Mike Ashley’s tight stronghold on the Toon coffers, price is key.

At £8million, Vydra would guarantee goals if given the necessary game time on Tyneside, after scoring at a ratio of one every two games in the Championship.
He would also suit the Toon style of play, offering pace in counter attack but also a decent aerial ability for a player who is not renowned for his height. Most importantly, though, he is a quality striker on the cheap.
Signing Vydra would give Newcastle a striker who boasts the kind of quality that could see him score 15 Premier League goals next season, and in turn play a part in securing another top-half finish.
