Albert Adomah has been in fine form for Aston Villa so should Newcastle take a closer look?
Albert Adomah of Aston Villa celebrates scoring his team’s second goal during the Sky Bet Championship match against Burton Albion.
Albert Adomah scored his ninth goal in 16 games for Aston Villa in all competitions this season as they beat Sunderland 2-1 in the Championship.
Adomah’s form has helped Villa to fourth in the table after 18 matches and with none of their strikers having found the scoring touch the 29-year-old has been a blessing to manager Steve Bruce.
Steve Bruce, manager of Aston Villa, looks on with Colin Calderwood during the Sky Bet Championship match against Sunderland.
In fact, has the forward’s performances been so good that teams from the Premier League should be taking a closer look at the Ghana international?
Arguably the side from the English top flight that most need attacking support out wide is newly promoted Newcastle United, who have relied primarily on Christian Atsu and Matt Ritchie out wide so far this season.
New signing Jacob Murphy has had a few run-outs but seems to need more time to develop, while Rolando Aarons has been used very sparingly.
Matt Ritchie of Newcastle United and Marcus Rashford of Manchester United battle for possession during the Premier League match.
Aside from Ritchie, who is often the Magpies’ main source of creativity, there is every reason to think Adomah could jump ahead of the other three in the pecking order at St James’ Park.
The one question mark about the Ghanaian, however, would be his age as he turns 30 next month, but as a short-term fix for Newcastle it is something to consider.
