Newcastle United are expected to be extremely busy during this summer’s transfer window.

The Magpies earned promotion to the Premier League after a hard-fought campaign in the Championship, but Rafa Benitez is experienced enough to know that he must still considerably strengthen his options, if he is to guide his side to a successful campaign in the top fight.
One particular area of concern for the Spaniard will be the right-back department, what with Vurnon Anita’s future still undecided, and his contract rapidly approaching its’ expiry date.
Whilst DeAndre Yedlin is a top-class performer, it could be argued that he still has a lot to learn, and who better to pick up advice from than soon-to-be free agent Bacary Sagna?

The Manchester City’s man’s deal is set to expire this summer, and he would be the ideal addition to the Newcastle squad.
The 34-year-old is vastly experienced in playing at the highest level, and with his game being based around fulfilling both defensive and attacking roles down the fight flank, he would be the ideal player from which Yedlin could learn from.

The former Arsenal man is obviously not the player he once was, from a physical aspect at least, but he has kept himself incredibly fit, and still possesses a certain level of know-how that seems to be lacking from the Tyneside outfit’s backline.
The fact that Benitez could pick Sagna up on a free transfer would limit the risk, and whilst the Toon would undoubtedly have to commit to a fairly substantial wage packet for the Frenchman, what he could bring to the club as they attempt to avoid dropping straight back down to the Championship could prove to be invaluable.
There will surely be a whole plethora of club’s queuing up for his signature, however, so Newcastle would be best served in sounding out a deal for the City man sooner rather than later.
