Lokomotiv Moscow interested in signing Liverpool’s Lazar Markovic, possibly on loan, but should Newcastle also be in the hunt?
Lazar Markovic of Liverpool looks on from the bench during a pre-season friendly match against Tranmere Rovers.
Lokomotiv Moscow are interested in signing Lazar Markovic, according to the Mirror, with the winger apparently having no future at Liverpool.
Markovic has not featured in a Reds shirt since May 2015 having spent the last two seasons out on loan and is considered a flop at Anfield after making just 34 first team appearances following a £20m switch from Benfica in 2014.

Now Lokomotiv are weighing up a move for the 23-year-old, who the Merseyside club would prefer to leave permanently but will allow to depart on loan if a decent fee is paid and the Serbian’s £35,000-a-week wages are covered in full.
Anderlecht, Celta Vigo and Espanyol are the other teams looking at Markovic, who received no takers when put on the market for £16m over the summer.
However, if the attacker is available, particularly on loan, would he not be an attractive prospect for cash-strapped Newcastle United as manager Rafa Benitez looks to bolster his squad during the January transfer window?
Newcastle United manager Rafa Benitez reacts during the Premier League match against Manchester City.
Loanees are appealing to the Magpies because of their reduced cost and with Markovic having done well in the latter half of last season while on a temporary deal at Hull City, has shown he can compete in the Premier League.
Newcastle are in need of support out wide as although Jacob Murphy has started to show his true potential, neither Christian Atsu and Matt Ritchie have greatly impressed and Rolando Aarons looks to be short of what Benitez currently requires.
