Several sides are allegedly interested in signing Chelsea’s Jay Dasilva on loan so should Newcastle United be among them?

Derby County are among a “handful of Championship outfits” keeping tabs on Dasilva as new Rams manager Frank Lampard hopes to use his strong connections at Stamford Bridge to land the left-back.

Charlton Athletic are also understandably interested in taking the 20-year-old back after he won their player of the year award in 2017/18, but with at least two Premier League sides also in the hunt that could prove difficult for the Addicks.
Who could want Dasilva from the top flight?
The England Under-21 international, who helped his country to a third successive Toulon Tournament victory on June 9, is a versatile left sided defender who can also operate as a wing-back.
This is something that could appeal to Newcastle United boss Rafa Benitez, who as the Chronicle reported way back in November wants recruitment in that position to challenge Paul Dummett.

Benitez didn’t quite get his wish during the January transfer window, as although Kenedy was signed from the Blues the Brazilian was very much used as a wide midfielder and has since returned to West London after his loan expired in any case.
Perhaps the 58-year-old can use his own relationship with Chelsea – where he was caretaker during the 2012/13 season – to land the highly rated Dasilva ahead of Derby and others this time around.
