Erik Lamela impressed Tottenham Hotspur fans after posting his support for them on Instagram yesterday.
Still a fan
Tottenham were due to face Burnley on Sunday afternoon and when Spurs asked where in the world their followers would be watching the game from, Lamela responded in kind.
Unfortunately for the Argentine, his weekend plans were scuppered by the English weather.
But Tottenham fans were still delighted to see Lamela showing his affinity to them, and many suggested that they wished he was still at the club.
Tottenham’s game at Turf Moor had to be called off – due to the snowy conditions.
Just under an hour before kick off, the game was deemed to be unplayable, leaving Tottenham with a long journey back to North London.
Spurs are now still waiting to find out when the game will be rescheduled for.
Should Lamela have stayed?
Antonio Conte could actually be forgiven for wishing that he still had Lamela around.
The 29-year-old spent eight years with Spurs before being let go in a part exchange deal for Bryan Gil in the summer.
It is a transfer which is yet to really pay dividends for Tottenham, though.
Gil has shown flashes of quality, but he hasn’t had much of an impact do date, and while the Spaniard may be one of the future, Lamela may well have been of more use in the present.
