Rangers made a fine start to life without manager Pedro Caixinha, as they came from behind to beat Hearts 3-1 at Murrayfield on Saturday afternoon.
The Gers parted ways with Caixinha on Thursday afternoon, less than 24 hours after the 1-1 home draw with Kilmarnock, and caretaker Graeme Murty took charge against Hearts.
Murty saw Rangers get off to the worst possible start at Murrayfield, as ex-Rangers striker Kyle Lafferty came back to haunt his former club, firing an unstoppable free kick into the top corner of the net.
Rangers hit back though, and after being frozen out by Caixinha, it was written in the stars that Kenny Miller would score upon his return to the team, and the veteran levelled the game from Alfredo Morelos’ pass.
Ex-Hibs striker Miller struck again after half time, heading home James Tavernier’s cross to put Rangers in front, before Josh Windass sealed a 3-1 win with a fine left-footed strike.
Murty will be pleased to have claimed all three points after a difficult week, but all the discussion after the game surrounded the performance of two-goal hero Miller having returned to the side.
The veteran striker has recently endured a spell out of the team having seemingly fallen out with former boss Caixinha, but he not only came back with two goals on Saturday, but he also captained the side as he again showed his value.
Miller was praised on Twitter after the game, with fans hailing his performance whilst suggesting that he should never be left out of the Rangers side, even claiming that he could have kept Caixinha in a job if he had used him this season.
