The Brentford ace would be a useful addition for Garry Monk’s Middlesbrough side.

Garry Monk has his work cut-out at the Riverside Stadium this season, if he is to guide his side to promotion back to the Premier League, despite many pundits fancying them to top the Championship table.

The former Leeds boss undoubtedly has a strong group of players at his disposal already, but today’s disappointing defeat away at Wolverhampton Wanderers highlighted the need for more of a creative threat from the middle of the park.

And with this in mind, Middlesbrough should consider entering the race for Bees ace Jota, who has been attracting interest from West Ham United, Everton and Newcastle United, according to Sky Sports.

The 26-year-old enjoyed a hugely successful campaign with Brentford last term, scoring 12 goals and chipping in with five assists in 21 Championship outings for the West London outfit.

The former Eibar man can play anywhere along the front-line, although he is arguably at his best when deployed in the number 10 position, just behind the main striker.

This could pose a problem for the Teesside outfit, with Garry Monk’s obvious plan to play a 4-3-3 formation this season. If he is willing to adapt to a different system, and vary the formation that he sets up his side to play, however, Jota could be a real asset for Middlesbrough.

With the Spaniard’s technical brilliance, and an eye for goal, as well as a killer pass, he would certainly help Boro improve upon the potency of their attacking play.

And Monk should not hesitate in bringing him to the Riverside this summer.
