As Tottenham Hotspur prepare to face Stoke City at the Britannia Stadium this weekend, Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino will be pressed to make a call between his first choice goalkeeper Hugo Lloris, who is just back from a hamstring injury sustained against Everton on the opening day of the season, and stand in Michel Vorm – and there may be benefits for either decision.

The temptation is obviously for Pochettino to go with his strongest side whenever possible, and the Argentine has demonstrated in the past his faith with his first choice stars – dropping Kevin Wimmer despite the Austrian’s strong performances earlier in the year, as soon as Jan Vertonghen returned from injury.
From that perspective, returning captain Lloris to the starting lineup as soon as he can may be a given.
But is there room for Pochettino to give Lloris a little more rest, especially with the Champions League opener against Monaco the next match up?

Vorm put in what was surely his best performance in a Spurs shirt in the draw with Liverpool, making one super save with his legs at 0-0 and showcasing his reading of the game in a number of dashes from his box to intercept through-balls.
The Spurs boss could give the Dutchman another fixture to take part in while also giving his skipper Lloris that little more time that will always be of benefit to players recovering from hamstring injuries.
