The Arsenal man would be a superb addition to the Manchester United squad.
Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho
Jose Mourinho is beginning to assemble a squad at Old Trafford that is more to his liking, as he looks to guide his United side to glory both domestically and on the continent.
The Portuguese still has a lot of work to do, however, if his side are to close the gap on Premier League champions Chelsea.
One particular department where the Red Devils need to address is the wide attacking areas, with the likes of Anthony Martial and Jesse Lingard failing to produce on a consistent enough basis.
Sir Alex Ferguson’s trophy-laden tenure at the Theatre of Dreams was underlined by all of his great teams containing exciting, pacey wingers – something that United have lost since the Scot’s retirement.
Arsenal’s Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in action
With this in mind, Mourinho should consider replicating the Red Devils momentous signing of Robin van Persie in 2012, by making a shock swoop for Gunners star Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
Van Persie’s move to Old Trafford from the Emirates coincided with United winning the Premier league title, after the Dutchman banged in 26 league goals.
Whilst the Ox would obviously not make such a significant impact in the goalscoring department, he would most certainly offer United a more direct attacking option, what with the verve and exuberance with which he plays the game.

His versatility would also provide Mourinho with the option of playing with more tactical flexibility, without having to use his substitutes.
The England international’s power and pace would be an incredibly useful asset for the three-time European Cup winners, with their play bordering on pedestrian last term, especially at Old Trafford.
Oxlade-Chamberlain’s contract with Arsenal is due to expire next summer, so unless he agrees upon new terms, United have a fantastic opportunity to poach him from the Gunners for minimal cost during the off-season.
And if Mourinho does manage to bring the 23-year-old to Old Trafford, it could turn out to be a signing of title-winning significance.
