A host of European clubs are reportedly interested in Jordan Amavi. Should Liverpool join the race too?

Earlier this week, French publication, L’Equipe, claimed that a host of European clubs, including the likes of Atletico Madrid and Napoli are interested in signing Jordan Amavi from Aston Villa in the summer transfer window.
Amavi joined Villa in the summer of 2015 for a reported fee of £10 million, as reported by The Birmingham Mail.
The 23-year-old has often struggled to remain injury free, but he has always impressed when he has taken the field.
Aston Villa owner Tony Xia has confirmed recently that the Villans will have to operate conservatively in the transfer market because of concerns about Financial Fair Play.
The Birmingham Mail reported that Steve Bruce, the Villa manager, has to raise funds by selling players before he can add to his squad.

Should Liverpool be interested in signing Amavi?
Back in December 2016, Foot Mercato (h/t The Mirror) reported that Liverpool were interested in signing the French defender. However, the deal never materialised.
Liverpool need to sign a solid left-back next season. James Milner has done a good job adapting to a new role, but he cannot be a long term solution.
Alberto Moreno has been used in cup games only, and Jurgen klopp doesn’t seem to trust him enough. Therefore, signing a left-back is essential.
With 1.9 tackles and 1.7 interceptions, according to whoscored.com, Amavi has shown his defensive qualities this season. Furthermore, he is versatile enough to play as a winger or a defensive left midfielder.
Liverpool can take full advantage of Villa’s financial condition by lodging a handsome bid for the 23-year-old defender. Plus, the Reds can offer him Champions League football as well.
