Birmingham City have been linked with Robbie Keane in the summer transfer window.

According to Sky Sports, Robbie Keane is interested in signing for Birmingham City in the summer transfer window.

It has been reported that the former Republic of Ireland international striker believes that he could offer something to the Championship club.

Birmingham manager Harry Redknapp has already spoken highly of the 37-year-old forward, according to Sky Sports.

“The all-time record Republic of Ireland goalscorer is confident he still has one big move left,” states the report on Sky Sports.

Although Keane is 37 years of age, the forward could still do a job for a season in the Championship, especially as an impact substitute.

Birmingham will be aiming to finish in the top six of the Championship next season, and so will Leeds United, and it would make sense for the West Yorkshire outfit to make a move for the former Wolverhampton Wanderers, Tottenham Hotspur and Los Angeles Galaxy star.

Keane has played for Leeds before and knows all about the pressure of playing in front of 30,000 fans at Elland Road week in and week out.

If played to his strength and managed properly, then the 37-year-old, who endured a mixed spell at Elland Road between 2001 and 2002, could be asset for Thomas Christiansen’s side.

Although Leeds do have a number of forwards in their squad, the Whites could do with Keane’s instinct for goal, experience of playing at the top level and hunger to carry on playing even though he is now 37 years old.

Chris Wood will be the first-choice striker at Leeds next season, but can Christiansen have faith in Lee Erwin or Marcus Antonsson to step up if the New Zealand international suffers a long-term injury or has a dip in form?

Both Souleymane Doukara and Kemar Roofe can operate upfront, but they are better off playing out wide, while new summer signing Caleb Ekuban could take a while to adapt to English football.
